Job summary
At Amazon Internet Services Private Limited, our customer obsession drives the Senior Security Advisor to elevate customers’ Amazon Web Services’ Cloud security posture to protect business services. Security is our top priority because if the business is not well protected against the persistent cyber security threats, customers will be severely affected by data breaches or compromises.
Public sector organizations have immense responsibilities to the communities that they serve. Their services ranging from education, health care, transport and more, directly impact the daily lives of millions of individuals. Given that, the Security Advisor must have a core conviction to public sector customers across India and South Asia to deliver highly scalable security mechanisms that protect millions of users, and thousands of organizations.
Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Security Advisor, you will:
1. Listen intently to the customer’s challenges and issues. Understand the context of these challenges with respect to the business operating environment and security threat landscape.
2. Work backwards from the customer’s goals to drive solutions that are resilient to cyber security threats.
3. Build prototypes and solutions to overcome security challenges. This serves to lift our customers from difficult problems and lift confidence in solution delivery.
4. Dive deep into cyber security risk assessments to identify root causes, areas of deficiency and thereafter propose actionable recommendations to mitigate risks.
5. Respectfully challenge assumptions and practices that are not contributing to the goals.
6. Educate customers on the best practices for security, identity and compliance using AWS infrastructure and services.
7. Be the trusted advisor to your customers.
8. Partner with AWS teams to work on solutions, proof of concepts, and engagement opportunities.
What you will need to succeed:
1. Critical thinking in solving complex challenges with innovative experimentation, automation, and engineering excellence. Sometimes customers are caught in a conundrum without any obvious solution, what can you do to deliver a break-out solution?
2. Demonstrated proficiencies in terms of execution, or responsibility ownership of over 10 years in the following technical security domains: Cloud Governance, Platform Security, Network Security, Identity and Access Management, Data Protection, Security Operations and Incident Response.
3. Established track record of being able to work closely with senior leaders to align on cyber security objectives and priorities. Track record should show measured outcomes on what has been done to substantiate this quality.
4. Experience with cyber security frameworks such as US National Institute of Standards and Technology Framework for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity (NIST CSF), and Center for Internet Security Critical Security Controls (CIS).
5. Understanding of the Indian regulations and IT security policies
6. Impact on complex business environment in relation to AWS infrastructure and services. You should be able to describe specific technology standard requirements in terms of the technical implementation, impact, trade-offs and process design.
7. Demonstration of continued learning to improve yourself not only on technical competencies but also on soft skill domains such as communication, leadership, time management and more.
8. Achieved and maintaining security professional certification in Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· 8 or more years of relevant business or technical experience, information security management, product management, business development, program or project management, and/or operations experience in and around information technologies, with a special emphasis on knowledge and experience related to information security and compliance.
· Knowledge of and experience with IT security, defense in depth, compliance frameworks, cloud computing, service-oriented architectures, distributed systems, modern application architectures, and the like.
· Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges; strong analytical and excellent communications skills, verbal/presentation skills, writing skills, and attention to detail
· Proven ability to influence and guide both customers and internal stakeholders around business and technical strategies in the security area, and to translate from business requirements to technical solutions.
· Must have a passion for innovation, be comfortable defining a way forward in the face of ambiguity, have the ability to scale and influence broadly, and as well as the ability to dive deep and pay attention to details.
· Must enjoy working in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment; outstanding interpersonal, collaboration, and teamwork skills and experience.
· Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at senior and executive levels.
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant business, computer science, and/or engineering disciplines.
· Domestic and regional travel may be required up to 30%-50%.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience as the Chief Information Security Officer (or equivalent) of a public sector entity (government agency, educational institution, etc.), or of an enterprise in a regulated industry (financial services, healthcare, etc.).
· 10 or more years of relevant business or technical leadership, information security management, product management, business development, program or project management, and/or operations experience in and around information technologies, with a special emphasis on knowledge and experience related to information security and compliance.
· Deep and broad technical knowledge of and experience with IT security, defense in depth, compliance frameworks, cloud computing, service-oriented architectures, distributed systems, modern application architectures, and the like; good understanding of virtualization, storage systems, software-defined networks, Internet Protocol, high availability and high scalability using modern techniques (scale out versus scale up), etc.
· Rich experience with IT security, both technical and operational, as well as experience with compliance regimes such as FedRAMP, HIPAA, CJIS, and other compliance models relevant to India as well as commercial compliance models such as PCI DSS, or equivalents.
· Experience with cloud services and technologies, preferably with AWS, but others as well.
· Bachelor’s degree in relevant business, computer science, or engineering disciplines.
